The Media and Graphics Interdisciplinary Centre (MAGIC) was created at UBC to foster research covering the entire spectrum of new computer-based and computer-associated media. Some examples include multimedia, mobile computing, computer animation, ubiquitous computing, interactive large screen display interactions, hypermedia, web-based applications and computer-based tools for collaboration in education, medicine and entertainment.
The Centre highlights the commitment of UBC to the use of advanced media technology, and brings together existing efforts and new initiatives from various research programs. MAGIC serves as a catalyst to assimilate and exploit new technology in research and education at UBC and to strengthen interaction with industry through collaborative research.
